The history of Nigerian players participating in the Premier League shows the solid relationship between the Nation and the League. Players to have featured in the league in the past includes Nwankwo Kanu, Austin Jay-Jay Okocha, Mikel Obi, Peter Odemwingie, Kelechi Iheanacho, Ahmed Musa, and so many others.

Ahead of the 2024/25 Premier League season, we have come up with a list of Super Eagles players set to participate in the league. Some Premier League clubs possess more than two Nigerian players while others have either one or none.

The Super Eagles players are listed below alongside the club they will feature for.

1) Frank Onyeka

The Midfielder is set to participate in his 4th season since joining Brentford in the summer of 2021. Since his arrival, he has put up top performances in the middle of the park showcasing his raw driving power and his never-say-die attitude when trying to win back possession from opponents on the field of play. He has become an integral figure at the club and a mainstay in the match day squads.

2) Calvin Bassey

The Nigerian defender is one of the Super Eagles players in Fulham FC. He joined the club in the summer of 2023. Since joining the Cottagers, he has fought his way into the starting line up with good performances in the heart of the defence. He would be looking to keep displaying top performances as he gains more and more experience in the League.

3) Alex Iwobi

Alex Iwobi is the other Super Eagles player who is to feature in the Premier League in the 2024/25 season. The experienced Super Eagles midfielder is set to partake in the 10th Premier season in his career. The Fulham midfielder has also played for Arsenal (where he began his league career) and Everton in the Premier League. After having a strong finish to the 2023/24 season he would be looking to maintain a top level during the coming season.

4) Wilfred Ndidi

The Super Eagles of Nigeria star is set to compete in the Premier League once again after his side won the EFL Championship of the 2023/24 season seeing an immediate return to the top flight. The midfielder contributed massively to the success of the team as he easily slotted into a more attacking role rather than the deep-lying role he was used to. Of course, he would not want his side to get relegated this time around.

5) Ola Aina

The Super Eagles of Nigeria fullback plays for Nottingham Forest, a side he joined on 22 July 2023 following his release from Torino signing a one-year contract. He performed excellently for the club last season as he was one of the names in the first eleven of his side on numerous occasions. He has also played for other Premier League sides namely, Chelsea and Fulham.

6) Taiwo Awoniyi

Taiwo Awoniyi is another Super Eagles player representing Nottingham Forest in the Premier League. He joined the side from German side, Union Berlin in the summer of 2022. He has gone on to net 16 goals in 47 appearances for the club. However, he had a very tough time last season as he struggled for fitness and and game time. He would be looking to put last season behind him and perform like he did in his first season at the club.

7) Paul Onuachu

The Super Eagles of Nigeria forward is on the books of Southampton ahead of the 2024/25 season. He joined the then relegation threatened club on 1 February 2023 from title chasing Belgian side Genk in a three-and-a-half-year contract. However, he has not yet hit the ground running at his club and he was loaned out to Trabzonspor last season. With the Saints back in the top flight, he would be eager to fight for a starting berth at the club next season.

 8) Joe Aribo

Joe Aribo is another Super Eagles player on the books of the Southampton ahead of the  2024/25 Premier league season. Although he has played more games for the club than Paul Onuachu, he is not a main stay in the starting eleven for the club. The 2024/25 Premier League season is a chance for him to perform his way into the first eleven of the team.
