Well, we at Sporty Chefs have come up with our predictions. Who wins the Ballon d’Or this year? Let’s take a look at our Top 5.

5) Lamine Yamal

The La Masia graduate had a very stellar 2023/24 campaign. His goals, assists, and mostly skills were on display during the season for both Barcelona and Spain. In a season where his club struggled, he was a shining light and a constant feature in the team’s starting line-up.

Before the Euros, maybe he wouldn’t be considered to be the No. 5 favourite in this article. However, his solid and entertaining performances in the Euros struck him this spot. He won the award for the Young Player of the Euros too in a tournament he will keep to memory forever.

4) Dani Carvajal

Dani Carvajal was so decorated during the 2023/24 season. He won the La Liga, UEFA Champions League, and the Supercopa de Espana with Real Madrid. The Real Madrid right-back won the Euros 2024 too a great season for him to remember.

He was once again composed, rock-solid, and strong in his performances for both club and country throughout the season. Normally, it is strange for right-backs to be in the Top 5 category but his performances earned him the right to the spot.

3) Jude Bellingham

The Real Madrid star began last season with so much fire and style, scoring at will, late goals, top dribbling skills, and top passes. He was the talk of the football world during the early days of the campaign.

Jude Bellingham was once most football lovers’ choice for the award but a little dip in form and constant rise of other performers keep him as the 3rd favorite for the award. However, if the finalists, England had won the Euros, he would have been in a better position.

2) Rodrigo Hernandez

The Manchester City defensive midfielder has been the best in his position for the past few years. The Spaniard gave a 2023/24 performance that was so great and astonishing with his tackles, interceptions, passes, goals, and drives.

He was one of the key players that helped Manchester City win their 4th league title in a row. Whenever he played for his club, there was 99% certainty they won’t end up on the losing side. This shows how integral he was and is to the City set-up. He also went on to lift the Euros with Spain, and he performed solidly again.

1) Vinicius Junior

The Real Madrid winger was the best thing that happened to football last campaign. He showed us the reason we the viewers enjoy watching the sport. He was not an early potential contender for the award but he consistently stepped up his game to belong in the 1st position.

Vinicius Jr was always active and on fire in the biggest of games for Real Madrid with his UEFA Champions League final performance crowning it all. However, there’s a feeling that his country’s (Brazil National Team) woeful Copa America performance might stop his dreams. To counter that, all odds are on him to claim the award – he is in pole position to join a prestigious group of people to have won.
