Cristiano Ronaldo is a footballer who is widely regarded as one of the greatest to ever play football. The Portuguese Captain has scored 895 goals in his career with 140 coming in the competiton he loves the most, the UEFA Champions League.

The Legendary Icon also holds the record for the most goals in a single Champions League Campaign, scoring 17 goals in the 2013/14 season. His stellar performances led Real Madrid to a Champions League title triumph. Two seasons after, he replicated those performances as he racked up 16 goals en route to another Champions League title triumph.

His top goals in the Champions League have been well assembled in this article so stay tuned as we serve them hot to you.

7) VS Apoel Nicosia FC (2012)

Cristiano Ronaldo was involved in a UEFA Champions League group encounter against Apoel FC on 4th April, 2012. During this match, the Portuguese scored a wonderful free kick he took from the left side of the pitch, just outside the  18-yard-area.

He made no error as he curled home a beautiful free kick, which dipped slowly before eventually hitting the far-post and entering the back of the nets.

This is obviously one of the toughest free-kicks to have ever been taken by the Portuguese talisman.

6) VS Marseille (2009)

Cristiano Ronaldo joined Real Madrid in the summer transfer window of 2009 for a fee of £ 80 million. This was a world-record transfer at the time.

Here, another free-kick goal is to be highlighted. His free-kick goal during the group stages against Marseille in 2009 showed why the Los Blancos paid that amount of money for his signature.

Played from a long distance, his free-kick flew into the net of the French side. It was so magical due to the fact that he hit that goal from a very long distance.

5) VS Chelsea (2008)

Manchester United faced Chelsea on 21 May, 2008 in the final of the Champions League. Ronaldo gave Manchester United the lead with 26 minutes on the clock.

A left-footed cross from Wes Brown down the right flank, outside the 18-yard box, was marvelously headed into the back of the net by Cristiano Ronaldo leaving the Chelsea Goalkeeper, Petr Cech stranded. Cristiano was 23 years old at the time.

Manchester United eventually won the final on penalties.

4) VS Galatasaray (2013)

Real Madrid faced Galatasaray in a UEFA Champions League group stage game in 2013. The Los Blancos were ahead by 5 goals to 1. Ronaldo wrapped up the game with a beautiful solo-run goal after receiving a ball from his teammate Karim Benzema before slotting home a very fierce strike.

The game ended in a scoreline of 6-1, a win for the Los Blancos.

3) VS Arsenal

The hopes of Arsenal in The UEFA Champions League were dashed and destroyed as Manchester United beat the gunners 3-1 in the second leg of the semi-final at the Emirates. United won 4-1 on aggregate.

11 minutes on the clock, Ronaldo scored a screamer of a freekick from 40-yards-out into the back of the net despite little attempt from Manuel Almunia to keep it out.

Cristiano Ronaldo definitely raised the ceiling with that strike against the helpless gunners.

2) VS Juventus (2018)

Even his coach Zinedine Zidane was stunned when the moment happened. This happened during the first leg of a UEFA Champions League quarter-final encounter against the Old Lady of Juventus in 2018.

The beautiful overhead kick scored by Ronaldo gave the match a unique blend which it needed. Daniel Carvajal crossed the ball from inside of the right hand side of the Juventus 18-yard-box and Ronaldo acrobatically found the net.

The strike from the 33 year-old was too glorious that even Juventus fans had to applaud and praise what they had just witnessed live.

1) VS FC Porto (2009)

Ronaldo scored this beauty in the quarter-final stage of the 2008/09 UEFA Champions League season while playing for Manchester United. Anderson passed the ball to Cristiano in the middle area of the pitch. The Portuguese talisman fired a pile driver from 40-yards beyond the reach of Porto goalkeeper, Helton Arruda.

The power and the determination that Cristiano Ronaldo used to hit that strike was GREAT.

The strike was crowned the inaugural winner of the Puskas Award, which is given to the best goal of a calendar year, in 2009.

That is a wrap on “Mr Champions League’s” Top goals in the UEFA Champions League.
